Monitor and evaluate with water meters

How to use ultrasonic flowmeter for decreasing of water losses Based on requirements of water works companies who consider decreasing water losses in their distribution systems one of the main economic indicators and concerns, ELIS PLZEŇ a. s. developed (in 2003) ultrasonic water meters of the FLOMIC type series facilitating measurements of not only water consumption but also instantaneous flow rate and water pressure. These three parameters are used to monitor and evaluate the conditions of the water supply networks and identify any water leaks.

The FLOMIC water meters had been designed using the state-of-the-art ultrasonic technology including battery-powered hardware. The meter power requirements are so low that an internal Li-battery ensures uninterrupted meter operation over the period of 6 to 8 years with the flow-rate measurements taken every second. This feature makes possible tracing of very fast flow rate changes under guaranteed excellent dynamic properties of the meters installed in the water distribution network.

The meters do not need any external power source, have no moveable mechanical parts and have very low hydraulic losses. In comparison with mechanical meters, the maintenance requirements are negligible. The battery-power feature makes these meters applicable at remote locations where line power is not available.
