Battery powered ultrasonic water meters
Battery-powered ultrasonic water meters of the FLOMIC type series have been developed to meet specific requirements of the water-supply network operators. The meters will find advantageous application in situations where the customer, apart from simple and reliable measurements of water flow rate, pressure and water consumption, wishes to monitor leaks in the water distribution networks and subsequently process the measured data using their own firmware.
Measurement method
The FLOMIC ultrasonic water meters perform measurements using the flight-time method where the flow rate data are derived from the difference between the ultrasonic wave travel times in and against the water flow direction. The characteristic properties of the meters include high precision and long-term stability of measurements over a wide range of measured values.
The meters do not need any external power source, have no moveable mechanical parts and have very low hydraulic losses. In comparison with mechanical meters, the maintenance requirements are negligible. The battery-power feature makes these meters applicable at remote locations where line power is not available.
